Hints, Tips and Advice
A high quality PVA-based contact cement that has many applications in the hobby and craft fields. Rapi-Bond is safe and easy to use , has a fast setting time of approximately 15-20 minutes, and is water resistant. It provides a tough elastic film and gives excellent adhesion on all commonly used woods. It has an unusual benefit in being able to give a good mechanical adhesive bond to most plastics that do not require a high strength joint.
Rapi-Bond may be used on porous and semi-porous materials such as paper, cardboard, felt, pottery and ceramics, canvas , leather, fabrics of most kinds, timber, plywoods, laminates and veneers, and MDF (Craftwood) - anywhere where a fast setting time is of great benefit to the user.
It is particularly suited to the handyman's workshop where it will be of benefit in most situations such as edge banding of veneers with or without heating bars. It is beneficial when dowel and tongue gluing as the fast setting time helps constuction move quickly without detriment to the finish or the article.
The hobbyist also benefits through many of these features as they also apply to most applications where the hobbyist is using similar materials. Plane modellers who use balsa-wood may find this adhesive to be of particular benefit as it may be warmed, (which improves the strength), during the application of most heat-sealing papers and tissues on the exterior surfaces of their models.
It is also a benefit to dollhouse modellers because of its superior set-time and strength. Others who would benefit are modellers building card kits, and those who design and make their own jewellery. Clean-up is with water whilst the adhesive is still wet, and mechanically when dry. Rapi-Bond is not considered to be toxic, but we recommend to be SAFETY conscious and treat ALL glues as hazardous and use them accordingly.
