Some Hints Tips & Advice
USE
Premier P.C. is an excellent styrene and acrylic plastic cement.
The main benefit is that it is not as 'bitey' as TETRA ABS/PVC, and therefore more suited to using on most polystyrene plastic kits on the market today.lt has excellent 'weld' properties, producing long-life joint welds. The joins will not become crystalline or brittle over a period of months. The solvent will leave a 'watermark' on the plastic surface, but this will not be detrimental to the ultimate finish of the model.
You no longer have to buy the putty and body fillers that crack etc in time. You can now successfully make your own putty from PREMIER. This is how!
From some scrap pieces of styrene, scrape the edges with your hobby knife to make fine filings. You will need to do this for several minutes to make enough filings. When you have enough, put the filings into a small METAL paint lid etc. Use an eyedropper to place only enough solvent onto the filings to turn them into a paste. Using a small hobby spatula, proceed to fill the gaps etc, on the model. The benefits of using this method are:
1. NO shrinkage of the filled joint hole.
2. Actual strengthening of the joint/gap (same material as body of model) 3:Sandable within minutes, as plastic joint sets.
4. No drying delay.
5. No waste of time or materials.
6. Quality finish on the model (one piece model).
This method can also be used with SIMPLY GLUES TETRA ABS/PVC Cement. PREMIER can also be combined with SIMPLY GLUES Sim-Gel to form a thicker gel for use where a thicker cement may be needed. Suggested ratio of 6:1 is o.k., but you can experiment and custom-blend to suit your needs. Sim-Gel retards the evaporation rate of ALL SIMPLY GLUES solvents, which may assist in construction by giving more time to position parts as they set.
When it comes time to house that "special " model in a display case, all you need to do is get the acrylic cut to suit your needs, and then weld it together yourself with PREMIER P.C. Ensure that the pieces are cut square, and that the face of the cut is square. This will ensure perfect fit when assembled, and that the solvent won't have to try to overcome any irregularities.
We cannot stress enough the need for CAUTION when using ALL glues & adhesives.
PREMIER PLASTIC Cement is NO different.
DO NOT USE IT WITHOUT ADEQUATE VENTILATION.
DO NOT use it near a naked or open flame, or other ignition source (electrical etc).
If you start to feel nauseated or headachy, cease using it IMMEDIATELY and move into a fresh-air area. If symptoms persist, or you experience any other adverse symptoms, seek medical advice immediately, and inform the medical staff that you have been using this solvent. The proper UN description is on the label under the name PREMIER, and is in brackets.
ALWAYS wash your hands after using ANY glue ! However, if sensible, mature pre-cautions are taken whilst using PREMIER PLASTIC Cement, you will enjoy many years of happy modelling.
